Meet The Team: Jessie Barker
You may have seen me on this blog before; over a year ago, I was approached by Rhiannon to be interviewed about my photography, and now I’m lucky enough to be a contributor! I’m so excited to start working alongside Rhiannon and Nora & Luna, seeing how far the website has come over the past few months, I can’t wait to be a part of something which has become so successful.
I’m 22 years old, and I’m a recently Contemporary Lens Media graduate from the University of Lincoln. Originally from a small village situated in the middle of Leeds and Harrogate, it was common that my strong Yorkshire accent was mocked by friends and lecturers for the three years whilst at University (in a friendly way, I hope). My own personal experience of University has made me become a much stronger person, and I quickly became an advocate for mental health, something I will be writing about soon.
In my spare time, I love going for walks with my dog Tilly, playing with my hamster Cheddar, as well as photography and yoga. I also love going to gigs and the theatre, though busy graduate life doesn’t allow me to attend as many shows as I would like to! I absolutely adore supporting charities, be it local or national. I recently teamed up with 2 friends and tackled the Pretty Muddy 5K for Cancer Research, raising a huge total of £800 between the three of us! You will often see me sneaking into a charity shop wherever I can.
If you would like to see more of what I get up to, or more of my photographs and general chit-chat, check out my Instagram at @jessiexjpg. And if you like seeing adorable hamsters, have a look at Cheddar’s Instagram at @cheddarthehammy!
